NutriScan
Nutriscan is a health-focused app designed to simplify grocery shopping for individuals with dietary restrictions, food allergies, or health-conscious goals. With over 32 million Americans affected by food allergies—and many more overwhelmed by misleading food labels and ultra-processed options—our goal was to create a solution that empowers users to make safe, informed choices with confidence and ease.
CHALLENGE + SOLUTION
The challenge was twofold: create an app that not only assists users in identifying safe and healthy food products but also personalizes the experience to meet individual dietary needs. Many current apps lack the trust, depth, and customization users need when shopping with health in mind. Using the Design Thinking framework, our team built NutriScan—an intuitive mobile app that scans barcodes for in-depth nutritional and ingredient analysis, flags harmful or unwanted substances, and suggests healthier alternatives. Users can build collaborative, store-organized grocery lists and receive personalized product insights—all within a seamless and user-centric interface that makes mindful eating more accessible and less stressful.
